Rejex-itŪ Fog Force
Bird Repellant (formerly TP-40)
is a fogging agent
that offers an efficient tool for the management of
nuisance birds without harming target and non-target
birds or other animals. It is a repellent based on
methyl anthranilate (MA), a naturally occurring compound
with reduced risk to the environment. As a proactive
method it does not depend on birds to taste the
repellent by eating treated food. Thermal or mechanical
fogging of Rejex-itŪ FOG FORCE relies on the exposure
of the birds to the fog. By fogging, the amount of
repellent is greatly reduced and the cost for
application greatly controlled. After several exposures
to the fog the birds generally leave the area completely
and do not return for the season. Automated fogging
system inhibit any future re-infestation from new bird
populations and assure a total bird free environment.
Use in thermal & mechanical fogging equipment
produces a fine aerosol or fog that is very repellent to
birds.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DOES FOGGING WORK?
For fogging to be effective, the birds must be exposed
to the fog. The fine aerosol irritates their eyes and
mucous membranes with minimum risks to them. Fogging
works on all birds, independent of their activity. They
do not have to consume the product to be effective. The
aerosol will also settle in their feathers and give them
another taste when they preen themselves. It may take
several exposures to the aerosol for the birds to learn
to leave the area completely for the season. The grape
like odor does not work as a repellent. It requires the
higher concentrations of the FOG FORCE aerosol droplets,
which have direct impact on the birds.
HOW DO I USE FOG FORCE IN
A FOGGER?
Familiarize yourself with the operation of
your fogger or read the operating instructions for
additional information. Pour Rejex-itŪ FOG FORCE directly
into the formulation tank of your fogger and operate the
fogger as directed by the manufacturer of the equipment.
For best results use a medium setting. If you use high
settings the fog becomes "wet" and may become
phytotoxic to vegetation if the leaves get wet. Low to
medium settings on thermal foggers generate a
"dry" fog which penetrates bushes and trees
without any discoloration. Mechanical foggers (mosquito
fogger) usually fog in a straight line and do not
penetrate foliage, but can be very effective on large
open areas and structures.
DO I HAVE TO DILUTE THE
PRODUCT?
Rejex-itŪ FOG FORCE Bird Repellent is used
without any dilution. It is an organic formulation which
does not mix with water.
HOW MUCH DO I NEED?
Fogging requires very little product. Generally 2.5-5.0
oz are enough to cover one acre (6-12 ounces/ha). With
one gallon Rejex-itŪ FOG FORCE you can fog up to 25-50
acres. With experience and automation less product is
used.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
Rejex-itŪ FOG FORCE can be used in both thermal foggers
and mechanical foggers, so-called Ultra Low Volume
foggers (ULV=s). For best results over large areas use a
thermal fogger with the proper output. For small areas
to keep birds away from re-infestation, mechanical
foggers are very useful. The mechanical fog generators
can be electrical, gasoline powered or with compressed
air. They are easier to start and automate, but do not
penetrate foliage or other obstructions as well as the
thermal foggers.
HOW OFTEN DO I HAVE TO
FOG?
Usually 4-6 applications
are sufficient to repel established flocks of birds from
the treated area for the season. It takes time for the
birds to find a new home and new feeding grounds. After
the initial fogging operation most birds may return when
the fog has subsided. IN subsequent fogging operations
the time increases for their return and the number of
birds decreases that return.
It must be considered
that only a fraction of the birds in a flock will be
exposed to the aerosol and therefore, will effectively
learn the irritating effects. The fogging operations do
not have to be done on subsequent days. There can be
several days between each fogging if weather conditions
are not favorable.
WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO
FOG?
Best results are achieved
when birds congregate in the early evening and settle
down for the night, or in the early morning when they
look for their preferred feeding grounds. It is
important to expose as many birds as possible to the
aerosol in the beginning of the operation. In subsequent
foggings the birds will leave much faster and it will
take longer for them to return.
